Are folding sunglasses as strong as normal sunglasses?
Good ones are. The weak point on any folding pair is the hinge, so Folds use gold-tone metal hinges at the bridge and arms, and a TR90 frame that flexes under pressure instead of snapping. Every pair is covered by a 3 year warranty.
Are Folds polarised?
Yes. The polarised lenses cut 99.9% of reflected glare from water, wet roads and windscreens. A polarised test card comes in the box so you can see the difference for yourself.
Do Folds block UV?
Yes. The lenses are rated UV400, with UVA transmission of 0.1% and UVB transmission of 0.0%.
What lens category are Folds?
Category 2. The lenses let through 19.7% of visible light, which suits everyday sun in the UK and Europe, driving in daylight and most holidays. Like all sunglasses, they are not suitable for driving at night.
How small do they fold?
Folds fold at the arms and again at the bridge, ending up smaller than a smartphone. They slip into the slim vegan leather case, which fits a pocket, handbag or glovebox.
Will Folds fit my face?
The lenses are 51 mm wide and 48 mm tall, best for medium to large faces. The sprung hinges open to 120°, so the arms ease around wider heads without squeezing.
Can I wear Folds over my glasses?
No. Folds are for people who do not need prescription glasses. If you wear round or Pathos-style glasses, Clippies clip-on sunglasses fit straight onto your frames.
What comes in the box?
Folds sunglasses, a vegan leather pocket case, a drawstring microfibre bag, a microfibre cleaning cloth, a mini screwdriver keyring for the hinge screws and a polarised test card.
